and the night that the hobbits slept in the flet. Frodo is uneasy about intruders, Pippin is concerned about falling, but Sam simply says that once he gets to sleep he will go on sleeping whether he falls off or not. I think part of Sam's strength comes from his ability to put traumatic events behind him and focus on the task ahead. This is quite a hobbitish trait, but Sam is especially good at it.
