What's even weirder about this dream is the fact that it was Merry's, and he is the only hobbit who can swim, or so I think. If it was Pippen or Sam, you could easily say that the dreams came from some unknown source to comfort them, but because they can't swim, they found it as a threat. But Merry lives on the Brandywine, he knows how to swim. So scratch that theory, at least for Merry. MELLON!
