In the House of Tom Bombadil #12: The contented log
Message:

"As far as he could remember, Sam slept through the night in deep content, if logs are contented."

Why is Sam the only one not to dream?

Is it going too far to claim that the "log" is a foreshadowing of Gollum?  (I think it is, but it occurred to me all the same, and I wonder if it occurred to anyone else.)

And why does Tolkien make it ambiguous whether Sam actually didn't dream, or if he simply forgot any dreams he had?

led by that raving tart, Lottelita!  This
