clear that they would be effective against forces of Orcs and Trolls under the
direct control of Sauron and his lieutenants, the Nazgul. Indeed Sauron
and the Witch-king might well be able to take over control of such
spirits. The Nazgul controlled the Barrow-wights, and Sauron was the
Necromancer, after
all.
