is their any suggestion anywhere that he might have? Certainly, I can't think
of anything--just a dark reference to the fact that he managed to slip inside
Dol Guldur and that was taxing enough. Still, Sauron was an
absentee landlord for some time--it could've been done....
On a tangent......What also I find curious about Gandalf's travels--is that he
was the implication that he was alone, or at least one of a few, who ever took
interest in the Shire or hobbits. The Shire is portrayed as a bit of
forgotten or overlooked territory. I must be tainted by the "smallness"
of the world these days, but it seems unthinkable that the Shire was so
overlooked by others--it was in Saruman's backyard..not to mention bordering on
the WitchKing's old territory. Surely it must've been on someone else's radar
screen.
And, by the way,Reverend, I think that your theory is most
intriguing.
