about how Gondor's rejection of Arvedui may have been, in part, due to Saruman's council. 

Isildur, Anarion and Elendil seemed to share the two kingdoms without any strife, but they were close blood realations and knew each other.  On the
other hand, the descendents of Isildur and Anarion at best, probably met only a few times in thier lives, if that.  That would make it easy for someone trusted and wise, like Saruman, to infuse all sorts of ideas about their distant northern relations into the minds and heart of the Gondorian leaders.
