are the following: 1)the instance in TTT where Aragorn on Amon Hen sees the
bird "like an eagle high in the air , descending slowly in wide circles down
towards the earth" There's a similar image in "Of Tuor and his Coming to
Gondolin" in UT--which by the way has a lot of uses of "grey".
2) Frodo on Amon Hen sees a vision including "myriads of sea-birds whirling
like a white dust in the sun"
Tolkien seems to prefer circle images
