the etymology of Peregrine was wonderful to read - gave a lovely insight into Tolkien's thinking and it was a small nod to the path that Pippin took.  I was wondering if you already knew the etymology of other characters' names and if any stood out as particularly descriptive of either the character or of Tolkien's thoughts?

But in the absence of that, how about these: Meriadoc, Elrond, Gwaihir, Manwe, Sauron.  For starters.  :)
