would kind of stop the process. when someone's turning into a wraith, but not
yet is a wraith, it should be possible to kill him or her, because they would
still be mortal at that time so when killed they should just die. and the Black
Riders didn't really die while turning into wraiths (their bodies didn't really
die), they faded or something like that, or at least so I imagine, and Bilbo
said to Gandalf that he's starting to feel thin, "like butter, spread over to
much bread". something like that must have happened to the Ringwraiths, too,
only in their case that process must have been final and irreversible, not like
in Bilbo's case.
but that brings another question - when can you say that someone has already
turned into a wraith? how to determine boundaries of the process of turning
into a wraith?
beats
me.
The road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone,
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Untill it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
