farewell to the old Movie Board...
Message:

I couldn't let the day end without one final post here.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who made this old Board such a great place to hang out.

It has been grand to meet so many interesting personalities through here.  I appreciate everyone who helped to keep it going, through all those discussion series. I'm glad we were able to archive so much of what we talked about here.  It was fun!

The new boards are great, but this one will always special place in my heart.

a last look round either! It's funny how real a place this seems, and how hard it is to leave!

Cheers, weaver. Thanks for making this such a welcoming place over the years.

I've spent a lot of speculation time here in the past.  You will live on in memory, each time I post on your "son" New TORN Movie board.  Son or reincarnation?

A toast to the Movie Board
Message:

Thanks to everyone here who helped make viewing the movies far far more than just a fanfest.

Especially you, weaver! Your enthusiasm and dedication has been wonderful to watch, and to share during my few times as a discussion leader here.

And for that snarky but sophisticated film connoisseur Darkstone who always saw the art even when others saw only schlock, a farewell reprise gift:

Thank goodness we're only saying fond farewell to our old home and have a vital, beautiful one we've moved into... but it's still terribly hard to leave this all behind.  It's been such a big part of my life...

Cheers to you, weaver... and everyone here who have made this such a brilliant, lovely place.

*waves a fond farewell to Movie*
Message:

Wow! What a hotbed of speculation, opinion, then critique this board has been! Lol! There was never a lack of opinions on this board - good, bad, and just plain bizarre sometimes. But, I can't remember one page that has gone by that hasn't had something exciting and interesting going on. Plus, so many of our wonderful regulars got their start here (you all know who you are). :-)

Thanks for all the entertainment, Movie!!

*hugs Movie board*

Kudos to everyone who has kept this board a vibrant and inviting place to hang out.

on TORn. I'm so glad we had this board format for so long, which made it possible for TORn to develop into the community it has become, and I hope it does not disintegrate with the new format.

Sorry, couldn't let this board end without reviving that topic one more time.  And those who weren't around during a certain era won't even know what I'm talking about.

Owlamoo

Owlamoo
ink drawing by JRRT

"Maddo and Owlamoo were two of Michael's imagined bogeys
when he was about 6-8 years old.  I tried to draw them from
his descriptions — which seemed to rob them of terror and
leave them merely nursery mythological creatures....
Owlamoo was just a large sinister owl-like figure that perched
on high furniture or pictures and glared at you."

— quoted in J.R.R. Tolkien, Artist & Illustrator
