Peter Jackson in negotiations for 'The Hobbit'

In a bit of non-news-news, The Hollywood Insider (and multiple other
sources) recently posted: Almost one month after Guillermo del Toro dropped
out of directing The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson is in
talks to helm the two films in the franchise. Story developing.

WETA Newsletter - Prancing Pony Enviro

Perched upon a crossroads in the northwest of Middle-earth, the small town
of Bree is a quiet village. In the center of town, the Prancing Pony Inn is
a home away from home for weary travelers from distant lands. Looking for
Gandalf the Grey, Frodo and his companions seek shelter from the Black
Riders who have pursued them through the wilderness, but there is little
rest to be found at the Inn this night. Unfriendly stares bear down on the
fearful Hobbit party and the wizard fails to appear. Amid the sodden patrons
and hooded strangers Frodo and his friends exchange fretful glances, while
outside the terrifying Wraiths converge upon the town in search of their
quarry.

Graham Norton Show.' Graham's guests included actor Bill Bailey who has

'Hobbit' films. The online video is available for UK Ringers, but here is a
brief summary provided by Chris.

Return of the IP: How Snowblind Plans to Rescue LOTR

You can't just walk into Mordor, and, these days, you can't just walk into
the store and pick up a quality Lord of the Rings title for your console
like it's 2003. Since Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001,
there have been twelve LOTR games, fourteen if you count expansions and EA's
(sadly) canned The White Council, not to mention free, browser-based games,
board games, card games, and all the other ways publishers have sought to
monetize the property. Surely, this flood of games would be enough for even
the most die-hard "ringer," no?

Neill Blomkamp is the 'Hobbit' director - maybe

Before anybody gets crazy, let me be clear that we are not reporting that
Neill Blomkamp is the director of 'The Hobbit'. I am not ready to put my
name or TheOneRing's name on a story that says this is fact. However, we did
receive a spy report that stated it as cold, hard, unsurprising fact. We
haven't been able to get a verification but the tip stated some other
information on the side that fits with other info from other sources. A
bunch of little pieces of information, some rock solid, some unclear, start
to form a big picture that looks like it could have Blomkamp in it. I
promise to explain it all if you will keep reading!
