TORn exclusive with 'Reclaiming The Blade,' director
"Star Wars" and "The Lord of the Rings" are two of the most widely appealing
film series in history. While they share many common elements, there is
little argument that knights and swords sit at the core of each. The Jedi
masters and their sabers - the weapon passed from father to son - share many
common elements with Aragorn and his ancestral heirloom weapon in J.R.R.
Tolkien's Middle-earth.

'Legend of Siguard' reviews, book on sale today
J.R.R. Tolkien's newest posthumous work lands in retail today. The body of
the non Middle-earth tale is told in two narrative poems told in the form of
Norse mythology with a Tolkien lecture and an introduction from his son
Christopher. Tolkien was a master of the forms of Old Norse and Old English
poetry while for most of us, that brilliance is likely to go unappreciated,
there is still treasure to be gleaned in understanding the author and the
traditions that led him to construct his own cosmology.

TORn 10th Anniversary Bash!
April 26, 1999: the fateful day almost ten years ago that TheOneRing.net
domain came to be; the brainchild of four Tolkien fans (Xoanon, Tehanu,
Calisuri and Corvar) who had no idea how their little site, meant to give
fans periodic updates on the LOTR movies, would grow!

years. Inspired by notes in the appendices of the book, the film follows
Aragorn as he sets out to find the creature Gollum and discover the truth
about the Ring.

Anger Brewing Over LOTR Blu-Ray Release
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical Editions)
[Blu-ray]Joel writes: Check out these review comments from people on Amazon
regarding the blu-ray release of the theatrical editions. There's a story
there how, in this economy, people are angry at New Line for doing the
'double dipping' by releasing the theatrical first, and the extended later.
It has forced the trilogy down to a 2-star average rating. I've not seen
something quite like this before - love of the film, but such anger over a
release/marketing policy. There's 34 pages of >90% bitter reviews.

Hobbit Movie Formats Confirmed: 1 Hobbit - 2 Films
>From www.empireonline.com: And the world exclusives from our 20th birthday
issue - guest-edited by Steven Spielberg - continue to pile up. We've known
for a while that Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro's eagerly-awaited
adaptation of the Lord Of The Rings prequel, The Hobbit, would comprise two
movies, due in December 2011 and 2012. But the make-up of those two movies
has been up for debate. until now. We spoke exclusively to both Del Toro and
Jackson for our birthday issue, and they told us the latest, which is.
"We've decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White
Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur," says Del Toro.

Howard Shore LOTR Concert in London Report
Jazmine writes: It is two days since I saw the London Philharmonic Orchestra
perform the soundtrack live to the movie, and I'm still pretty awestruck by
the whole experience. I spend a lot of time at various live music events,
and every so often one I find something that moves me more than most. This
was one of those occasions.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon
Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.
