Behold 'The Lord of the Rings: The Musical: The Musical!'
Ben writes: I noticed that you guys were reporting on the opening of LOTR in
London, and I thought I'd get in touch with you about a related project of
mine: "The Lord of the Rings: The Musical: The Musical!" For about 8 months
now my writing partner and I have been working on this, and on July 4th the
show is going to premiere at the Toronto Fringe Festival.

"LOTR is a platform we can build from," says exec producer
Turbine Entertainment is not ruling out a console version of its MMO The
Lord of the Rings Online, exec producer Jeffrey Steefel has revealed. "I
actually think Lord of the Rings is a platform we can build from. Our
license is to build massively multiplayer online games based on the books on
all platforms, all across the world, so we want to leverage that over time,"
Steefel explained in a recent interview.

'Lord of the Rings' on London's West End
LONDON, June 19 (UPI) -- The Theatre Royal in London's West End launched the
stage adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." The show, which
cost $24.9 million and features 17 pneumatic lifts beneath the stage, began
previews in May, the BBC reported Tuesday. The production debuted in Toronto
last year but was cut by about 35 minutes for the West End opening after it
wasn't well-received by critics.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon

Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.
