The Fellowship Becomes Fine Art
Vanderstelt Fellowship Fine ArtJerry Vanderstelt was in the right place at
the right time. But it wasn’t luck that landed him there, it was hard work
and making his own opportunities. Today this good fortune and hard work
culminate when the artist releases a lithograph celebrating “The Fellowship
of the Ring,” film released in 2001.

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2001, Elijah Wood walked around the mammoth floor
of convention floor drinking in the celebration of popular culture and
keeping his eye out for hints of how the world might accept the movie he had
worked on that was about to overwhelm popular culture, the first film in
Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings.”

Did you notice? Scrapbook is Back!
After the ‘Great TORn Crash’ of a few weeks ago, many of the TORn staff were
extremely worried about the possibility of having lost 18,000+ images and
photos that comprise our Scrapbook section. After all, this area contains
nearly 10 years of Tolkien fandom history represented in visual form. (Just
think of all those fan events and Ringer submitted photos!!!) Thankfully,
through the hard work of Arathorn and Corvar, the Scrapbook was completely
recovered and is now revitalized in our brand new design. When you are bored
at work today, take a moment to browse Tolkien history.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon

Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.
