Spike TV Announces SCREAM AWARDS 2006 Winners!!!
Yes, Spike TV's press release featured their own exclamation marks...but I
digress. Last night SPIKE TV announced the winners of the first annual Spike
TV awards. Orlando Bloom's 'Pirates', Hugo Weaving's 'V', PJ's 'King Kong'
and Ian McKellen's 'X-Men' were all winners.

and son and assistant of Christopher. In this Interview, Adam talks about
Children of Húrin, the incoming book of Christopher. You have both versions,
in Spanish and English here.

'The Hobbit' Petition: MGM Speaks!
Lith writes: Here is a report on the deliveries of The Hobbit Petition to
MGM and New Line on September 22nd. The petition, with the 39116 signatures
accumulated at the time of printing, was delivered to the studios along with
a copy of MrCere's open letter to the studios. Though we have had no
feedback at this time from New Line, I did receive this very cordial email
from Theo Dumont of MGM today, with full permission to pass it along. It
should hearten fans a good bit.

Following last year's successful The People's Guide to J.R.R. Tolkien, this

explore the words and worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien through essays, Q&A from
readers, and interviews with special guests.

The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader, edited by Turgon

Over the years Tolkien's fondness for and indebtedness to medieval
literature has often been mentioned. His special devotion to older Germanic
literature, including Beowulf and the Eddas, has long been known, for as a
professor he taught these works in addition to teaching the languages in
which they were written. This anthology has been compiled in the hope of
sharing the pleasures of these -- and other -- classics of medieval
literature that were part of Tolkien's professional life and inspirations to
him in his creative work.
