Figwit Documentary - A Jolly Good Laugh
I went along to the Figwit documentary which premiered today as part of the
Auckland Film Festival. There was a good turnout of Figwit fans, and judging
by the laughter throughout, they enjoyed what they saw. Even if you're not a
Figwit fan, there's a lot here to enjoy for any LOTR fan - the worldwide
LOTR culture, the in-jokes, and the way the film makers and the fans play
off each other. It's playing again in Auckland on Sunday 25 at 11:15 and
Wellington on July 30 and 31.

McKellen Confirmed for 'Ringers'!
Celebrated actor and activist Ian McKellen has provided a brand new
interview for the upcoming feature documentary, RINGERS: LORD OF THE FANS.
Sir Ian showed his remarkable depth of understanding of all things related
to J.R.R. Tolkien and “The Lord of the Rings.” His powerful portrayal of the
wizard Gandalf in Peter Jackson’s epic film trilogy earned him his second
Oscar nomination (Best Supporting Actor, 2002) and made him a cinematic icon
to adoring fans worldwide. Sir Ian’s interview for Ringers reveals both his
remarkable erudition and gentle humor which readers of Tolkien have always
associated with their beloved Gandalf.

More Guests, More Games, at Fellowship Festival
The Fellowship Festival [London August 28-30] has its complete programme up
on its website, and announces new guests [including John Howe] and a new

Age," which will not be available elsewhere until November.

Auckland Film Festival: LOTR Doco Screened!
Cunning Vixen is one of the lucky people who caught a screening of Costa
Botes' documentary, "The Making of the Fellowship of the Ring". The film
features footage never before released from behind the scenes of the LOTR
filming. This documentary has been released for the NZ-based film festival
only, and New Line Cinema asked that it have the caveat of being a "Work in
Progress." CV tells us all about it, and plans to declare marshal law if
this exact print is NOT allowed to be seen outside NZ....and I'll be a card
carrying member of that revolt if it's true!

Cold Spring Press is pleased to announce its new book "The People's Guide to
J.R.R. Tolkien." This book of essays fills the void between the release of
the second and third Lord of the Rings movies. Passionate, ardent,
well-informed, and unlike any other book on the subject, this is an
indispensable handbook for people who consider themselves experts -- or who
wish to become experts -- on the lore of Middle-earth and the man who made
the myths.
