Sideshow: Giant Gollum Bust!
Sideshow/Weta Collectibles first premiered the nearly life-sized color
Gollum bust at Comic Con last week. Today it has gone on pre-order at their
website! The exclusive piece is a limited edition polystone bust, much
larger than previous busts we have seen from the company. It is also the
first Gollum piece we have seen from Sideshow/Weta. I don't know about you,
but this thing creeps the heck out of me!

TORn's Comic-Con 2003 Blowout
MrCere writes: SAN DIEGO - TORn friends, there is yet so much of Comic-Con
2003 that many of you would be interested in that I feel almost powerless to
deliver it all. I lack a laptop of my own and so each and every report I
filled from there was on a borrowed machine, which made it difficult for
both borrower and computer owner. Excuse #2 is that since returning, I have
been catching up on the rest of my life which goes on without me when I am
gone and demands attention.

A LOTR Ride at Universal Florida?
Cærial writes: I thought you and my fellow LotR fans would find this
interesting. According to Screamscape: "...it seems the head of Universal
Orlando was having an open Q&A lunch session with his staff a few weeks ago
when he was asked if Universal had any plans to pursue either the Harry
Potter franchise or Lord of the Rings for possible future park projects.

Gandalf The Grey Bronze Statue Released!
This thing looks awesome! Sideshow/Weta Collectibles has just released a
Gandalf the Grey bronze statue. The piece stands approximately 24 inches
tall, and weighs nearly 70lbs! Limited editions don't come much more limited
than this - just 36 will be produced worldwide. The piece first appeared for
sale at comic Con 2003 at the Sideshow/Weta Collectibles booth in the Lord
of the Rings pavilion.

ROTK Reshoot Images
Silmarien writes: I took these photos last month and have finally got around
to having the film developed. As you can see by the lighting boom they must
have been filming. You can't see much through the front gate so we went to
the hill up the back of the studio and got the other shots of what looks
like the entrance to a tunnel and a doorway or gate.

Backstage at Comic-Con
Leah Jakusovszky was one of the lucky few to get transformed into a Hobbit
by WETA Workshop at Comic-Con 2003. She sends along her story and these
images!
http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/1/1058984553

More Toybiz ROTK Pics!
Scorpio writes: I just found these today at Target. I wasn't expecting ROTK
toys so soon! But they're out there! I got Eomer with Ceremonial Armor,
Frodo & Sam in Goblin Armor (AND Sting!!), and finally Sharku with a Warg!

TORN's Own Book: The People's Guide to J.R.R. Tolkien

Cold Spring Press is pleased to announce its new book "The People's Guide to
J.R.R. Tolkien." This book of essays fills the void between the release of
the second and third Lord of the Rings movies. Passionate, ardent,
well-informed, and unlike any other book on the subject, this is an
indispensable handbook for people who consider themselves experts -- or who
wish to become experts -- on the lore of Middle-earth and the man who made
the myths.
