Hello to all,
BarliBash in Seatle was outstanding. It was everything I was looking for. I
was able to meet new people and make new friends as well as meeting face to
face people that I have counted as friends but had never seen. The icing on
the cake was to see people I met last year. What else is there? BB is growing
and that is good. I hope it will become an institution and not end after the
last film is released. It seems that there is some confusion over what Bash
is. It is the brainchild of one man and his dedication. Curunir has done an
outstanding job of bringing his idea to fruition. If you want to know what
Bash is or is supposed to be, listen to Curunir. As an aside to Curunir,
Ricky Nelson put it best in his song Garden Party, "You can't please everyone
so you got to please yourself". I have great faith in your ability to put
together another wonderful Bash. I am sure you are being inundated with great
ideas from everyone. Please know that in my mind, as you will incur the
headaches that you have the right to choose what those headaches will be. I
will support you in every way I can and I trust your judgement. Perhaps
Tookish is right and you need help. That is your decision. I know there are a
lot of new people that can offer you new resources for you to look at. I have
complete faith that you will do the best for BB.

To all the Bashies, I hope my comment do not seem negative to you. The more
ideas Curunir has to draw from the better he can make the Bash. I am so happy
that this event is generating such interest, especially among people outside
of Barliman's. This is a way to grow both the chatroom and promote our love
for Tolkien. Curunir took his idea and made it a reality in creating
BarliBash. I hope that more of you will follow his lead and create your own
mini bashs or conventions. If you are interested in a particular convention
then by all means, promote a group attendance. Follow your hearts. I hope
they will always include BarliBash and TheOneRing.Net as I know they will
always include Tolkien.

                                                                   Greg
