[Barlibash] has anyone bought a new digital camera lately?

I'm kinda sorta looking for a new one - want something with great picture
taking abilities, decent battery action, reasonable memory (or reasonable
cards for memory) and a price of no more than $300.
 
I've been looking at the Fuji Finepix F30 and Canon Powershot SD600, but
there are SO many out there!
 
Any advice from anyone? Any recommendations or warnings to stay clear of any
model in particular?
