Hello everyone,

We're working on getting the basic Bash details hammered out early, in order
to give people more time to plan and budget for next summer. 

After conducting some lengthy conversations in the background, we have
tentatively decided upon San Francisco, August 3-6.

We arrived at this decision after considering a number of factors:

-- We have not visited the West Coast since 2002, when Bash was in Seattle.
-- California is the second-most affordable U.S. destination for
Australians, who have long felt cut-off from Bash attendance. (#1 is Hawaii,
which is too far away, and too expensive)
-- The mid-summer climate of San Francisco rarely spikes over 80F, and is
considered quite cool. (http://www.sfguide.com/services/weather.htm)
-- Plenty to do! In addition to all the regular sites (Golden Gate Bridge,
Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf), SF is smack in the middle of some of the most
gorgeous scenery on the West Coast. Potential day trips to the Marin
Headlands (http://www.nps.gov/goga/mahe/), wine country, or even a pre-bash
dash to San Jose are all being considered.
-- Very real possibility of excellent hotel deal to be had.

Following the events in Chicago, and the limitations placed on our under
aged Bashers, we have discounted Las Vegas as simply having not enough
variety for the under-21 set. Plus, the heat factor renders it unfavorable
for a lot of attendees. 

Denver was closely considered, and still may yet host a Bash in coming
years, but economics and location placed it second to San Francisco.

I'm still holding on to my Jersey Shore Bash dream, and someday jincey would
love to have one in the Southeast, but this is not our year either ;)

We do realize that each and every one of you will have a vocal opinion, and
this is your opportunity to weigh in with your thoughts.
