Joel -
You and Fran sound like my kind of folks. I worked at Disney (yes, in the
dreaded Magic Kingdom!) for three years, and I still never get tired of
going on the rides.

You can usually get pretty good flight deals to both Vegas, and to a
somewhat lesser extent, Orlando.
However, if planned far enough in advance, you can get *fairly* decent
rates to just about anywhere (except for no-competition hub cities, such as
my parent's home of Minneapolis, where Northwest Airlines determines the
price to this captive town.) Some places are never cheap once you get there
- you will PAY to stay anywhere decent in Manhattan for example.
As to pricing of of the two towns mentioned by Carol/mallorn - Las Vegas is
indeed cheap, as many have stated. It is amazing how much the web has
helped people getting discounts on WDW/Orlando vacations. Fran and I go to
WDW probably far too often than is wise (every 18 months on average), but
we're happy fools with regard to that place, so we'd go again in a
heartbeat. If the destination is determined to be there, I'll send a note
with (far more than anyone wants) information on how to get discounts, and
links to web pages for that. You can save $100s of dollars on Orlando/WDW
vacations if you plan ahead.
