Hello gang,

You've all been so good to pray for us when we needed it, and to have your love and good thoughts sent out way. I'm not sure if this is true, but it seems I only send updates when things are bad. Well, not this time. This time I'm going to share some good news with you all, because without your prayers, love, support and good thoughts, we wouldn't have made it this far.

As you know, my Buzz came home in August. With each day, he has improved, and grown stronger. He's more himself, he's content for the first time in 1 1/2 years. His skin is healing at an incredible rate, he's gained weight, he's drinking and starting on broth. His settings on the respirator are being lowered, a little bit at a time. He's been up and out in the van twice, and will be going to vote, Vote mind you, on Tuesday. We still have a long road, but I don't think it'll be that bumpy.

The best news is, that after almost a year, I've heard my husband's voice. There is a special valve that can be used for people who have trach's or are on a respirator, which allows them to speak. His vocal cords are weak, and it's hard, very hard, but I push, and he moves. It'll be a slow process, no doubt, but each baby step is progress. We hope to get him in a rehab in Philly which will help his skin, weaning off the vent, phys therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and may even help him to eat normally again.

I can't explain to you the joy of hearing that voice again. Not just for me, but for his brother, and my parents, and for Buzz. Heck, he cried harder that I did!!

Well my friends, until next time.......again, thank you all so much....take care..........

All our love.................Laura (aka the6thWalker) and Buzz (aka Mr6th)
