Subject: [Barlibash] welcome!!
Welcome to the 2004 BarliBash list! =20
I've put everyone from my personal distribution list onto this so it =
will be easier for folks to communicate. If you don't want to get these =
emails, let me know and I will remove you, but you may miss important =
info!=20
One thing I need to get a response on from the folks going to IMAX: =
Traci is asking what IMAX we want to see. For some reason, I assumed =
folks could pick and choose whichever they wanted, but this may not be =
the case. I've heard several say they like the sound of the Forces of =
Nature show at 3pm. The choices are:
2PM Adrenaline Rush
3PM Forces of Nature
4PM India:Kingdom of the Tiger
5PM Forces of Nature Please, if =
your are an IMAX person, respond to me with your vote
Here are some points of interest for everyone:
Everyone NEEDS to have their Jury's reservation in by July 15th. After =
this date the hotel will release any unreserved rooms back into the =
hotel pool to be used by general public.
We are scoping out fun things to do during our visit. One of the only =
complaints I have ever heard about a BarliBash in the past is the fact =
that everyone spent too much time standing around trying to decide what =
to do, and then waiting for X,Y, & Z to meet up at designated time. So =
this year we're going to attempt to have a loose itinerary. No one will =
be forced to do anything on the list, becuse there is *so* much to see =
and do, we cannot please everyone. Add the fact that not everyone will =
be there on the same days.. and you will see it is logistically =
impossible to please everyone ; )
A couple of things we've been looking at are:
Wednesday evening (for early arrivals):=20
Boston Museum of Fine Art (entrance by donation)
dessert at http://www.finaledesserts.com/
Thursday:=20
duck tour! http://www.bostonducktours.com/
walk around the common / ride the swan boats? =
http://www.swanboats.com/new/welcome.shtml
get together at a place to be decided later for dinner/drinks/hellos =
and hugs
Friday:=20
breakfast on the run
Boston Museum of Science for luncheon, LOTR exhibit and IMAX
Dinner at Legal Seafoods
Ghost tour of Boston?? ($30) =
http://boston.about.com/od/travelandtraffic/a/ghost_tour.htm or one of =
this walking tour? http://www.newenglandghosttours.com/tours.html
Saturday
USS Constitution (free but museum costs) =
http://www.ussconstitution.navy.mil/
Chinatown perhaps?
POOL PARTY at HannaBoffin's!! (more info to come!)
Sunday
I imagine most folks will be leaving out Sunday, so this is wide open =
atm.
Some other points of interest are the Cheers Bar =
http://www.cheersboston.com/index_bh.html
a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery ($1! but not in a good section of =
town and not easily accessible by T) =
http://boston.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.sa=
madams.com%2Fbeer%2Ftour.html
or a tour of the Harpoon Brewery (again $1!) =
http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/brewery/boston/five_thirty_club/index.htm =
(also not easily accessible)
There are whale watching excursions ($29 and 4 or 5 hrs in length): =
http://www.massbaylines.com/whalewatch/default.html
Filene's basement for the shop-o-holics: =
http://www.filenesbasement.com/master.html
A couple of cards are available that give you admission to several =
touristy kinda places... in case you are interested:
GoBostonCard (pricey but lots o stuff included!)
http://www.gobostoncard.com/freeadmissions.html
Boston CityPass is $37 and includes harvard museum of Natural History, =
John F Kennedy Library & Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, =
New England Aquarium, Skywalk Observatory at Prudential Center
