Our friends at TORn community site Gwaith-i-Phethdain
have a little snippet from Howard Shore about the use of chorals in his soundtracks in answer to a question posed to him at one of his London concerts last month. Shore said: "Well, the lyrics are actually either from the book or written by Phillipa Boyens. They were translated by David Salo. But I only used little fragments, seldom whole lines, because I needed to fit the lyrics to the music. It's easier that way, and actually it wouldn't work in the film to use them in their complete form.
