Physical description: Tall and kingly. White hair and beard.
Biography: 17th King of Rohan, and the last of his
line. Theoden was withered under a spell of Saruman, through the evil counsels
of Grima Wormtongue, but revived by the counsels of Gandalf in the year 3019.
He then rode to Gondor, and fought valiantly in the Battle of the Pelennor
Fields. The arrival of the Witch-King startled Theoden's steed, Snowmane, and
she threw Theoden. Hitting his head upon a stone, Theoden soon died, and Eomer
became King of the Mark.
Theoden was instantly charmed by Merry, taking him into his service as a
swordthain, and listening to his stories and songs with great joy.
