Urban
first
started
acting
at
the
age
of
8.
His
first
role
was
on
a
New
Zealand
TV
show,
but
his
early
career
was
shortlived.
He
layed
off
acting
until
after
High
School.
As
he
was
about
to
attend
Victoria
University
he
received
an
acting
role
in
the
New
Zealand
television
show,
Shortland
Street
from
1993
to
1994.
Karl
stayed
busy
early
on
doing
odd
jobs
around
his
Aunt's
farm.
He
is
also
known
for
his
talent
at
riding
horses
which
helped
him
land
a
spot
on
the
show
called
Riding
High.
A
children
show
about
horses.
This

also
help
him
with
his
role
as
Éomer,
son
of
Éomund,
a
Rider
of
Rohan.
