Weta lands work with Titanic director

From tvnz.co.nz: The 3D animation company Weta Digital has landed work on James Cameron's first major film since Titanic. Cameron's new project Avatar is a science fiction film which pits a human army against an alien horde on a distant planet. Cameron has told The New York Times the film will test new technologies on a scale unseen before in Hollywood. He says Avatar will go even further than Lord of The Rings in making a large cast of virtual creatures who convey emotion as authentically as humans. Avatar will begin shooting in April with a $295 million budget.

Prince Caspian to be Filmed in Slovenia

Parts of Prince Caspian, the sequel to the 2005 hit The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, will be filmed in the beautiful Soca River region, Slovenia’s POP TV channel has recently reported. Although the filmmakers searched for locations all around Europe, the Soca River and its surroundings proved to be some of the most memorable. They decided to shoot part of the story in Slovenia following successful talks with the Bovec municipal council and officials. [More]

This being the holidays the studios have decided not to release any films of significance, instead we get the bottom of the barrel films as enjoyable as a post-New Years Eve party hangover.
