Anyone For Bowling? - Xoanon @ 14:05 PST
By the way I bowl you'd NEVER want me on your team, but that didn't stop us from getting these amazing bowling shirts made from the best Bowling Shirt maker online, BowlingShirt.com. They documented the process for us to show you just how these masterpieces are put together!

The shirt Design

The first step is the design of the shirts front and back logo. The wornderful designwork was done by Elwing and the shirt layout by Calisuri.

Creating the screens

The second step involves actualy making the screens that will be used to print onto the shirts. This is where the design goes from a computer sprite to an actual physical layout, fun stuff!

Setting Up the Screen

Next the screen needs to be setup and ready to print onto the shirt.

Underlay Print

The underlay print is done first, this is the basic print on the shirt, and the first step in the actual making of the shirt.

The White Print

Here is what the underlay print looks like, white with no other colors.

Setting Up the Color Print

The color print is the next step in this process. All colors used in our design will be done seperately using this whirly-bird looking contraption.

The Color Print

Here is the color print, the shirt is almost ready to go!

In the Dyer

The shirt is dried to ensure the ink doesn't smudge or run, looks like a pizza oven to me.

Out of the Dryer

After the pizza..er shirt is done in the dryer...slip it on!

The Final Look

And here we have it! The TORN Bowling Shirt!

We may be selling a slightly different version of these shirts if interest is high enough. Email calisuri@theonering.net and tell him you're interested!!

WHEN Is 'The Annotated Hobbit' Coming Out? - Xoanon @ 08:43 PST
From: Entmaiden

I posted this a couple weeks ago on Main, but here's more official word about the delay in publishing The Annotated Hobbit. I got this from Amazon re: The Annotated Hobbit publication date. The Houghton-Mifflin site says publication is Sept.9, so I'm not sure which is right! Original shipping date was late June/early July.

Greetings from Amazon.com.

We have contacted the publisher by phone concerning the status of your order for "The Annotated Hobbit."

The representative we spoke with indicated that this book has not been published and is not expected to be released until August 16, 2002.

Release dates tend to fluctuate, however, so there is a chance that this will change. If we receive additional information about this, we will let you know.

Best regards,

Sara J.

LOTR Chess Set Pictures - Xoanon @ 14:21 PST

NewLine is now advertising a LOTR:FOTR chess set on their web site.

I picked up the chess set while in London a couple of weeks ago. So, here are some pictures of the pieces, and one of the board.

The NewLine picture shows a great shot of the board, but I'm sending along pictures of all the pieces, front and back.

Here's the URL for the chess set at the NewLine shop:
More]

Chess purists please confirm this - should the board be rotated a quarter?

I thought the white square (Heroes) has to be on the bottom right corner, which would mean the the pieces can't be played as shown.

(sigh) my ten-year-old nephew knows more about this than I do...

Enjoy!

LOTR Toy Update - Xoanon @ 13:32 PST
Audric writes: I just wanted to give you a news update on the status of some of the Lord of the Rings toys. I have a small toy store here in the Netherlands and am a big collector myself. Especially all thing LOTR .However, things were getting more and more confusing on several assortments that Toybiz would release. So here is an update I got from a Toybiz representative :

Fellowship of the Ring 6” assort 4 (Galadriel, Haldir, Orc Brute) cancelled

Fellowship of the Ring 6” two-packs assort. 4 (Gil-Galad/Elendil a.o.) cancelled

Balrog 10” figure cancelled

The reason given is that these items would come out too close to the release of the second movie.

The second 12” figure assortment should hit the stores any day now. (Galadriel, Aragorn)

Also the 10” Sauron figure has not been cancelled (yet)

The first two assortments from the Two Towers will be released in November, along with the 14” Treebeard figure.

Which surprised me, I would have thought they wouldn’t want to show him before the movie was released.

Anyway, I hope this info is useful.
