Maude was first introduced as Edith Bunker's outspoken, liberal cousin on the classic TV show "All in the Family." Her spinoff, set in Tuckahoe, New York, focuses on Maude's daily adventures at home with fourth husband Walter (Bill Macy), divorced daughter Carol (Adrienne Barbeau), and Carol's son Phillip. Guest stars include Rue McClanahan (TV's "The Golden Girls"), John Amos (TV's "Good Times"), and Tom Bosley (TV's "Happy Days"). Blessed with some of the best TV comedy writing ever, along with controversial plotlines, the show is just as hilarious and surprising today as it was when it debuted in the top ten in the early 1970s. Assigned to his command are six free-spirited, good-hearted swabbies who love to have fun. McHale and his men are constant irritants to their base commander, Captain Wallace B. Binghamton. This dynamic series depicts how the convergence of police work and mathematics provides unexpected revelations and answers to the most perplexing criminal questions. Enjoy all 13 compelling Season One episodes of NUMB3RS in this premiere four-disc DVD collection.

Re-Animator: Stuart Gordon's adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's Herbert West: Re-Animator puts a Night of the Living Dead spin on the classic Frankenstein story. Jeffrey Combs furrows his brow and bugs his eyes as the preternaturally intense Herbert West, a maverick medical student whose gory, gooey experiments cause bloody corpses and body parts to jerk to life. Bruce Abbot is the studious roommate drawn into his extracurricular experiments, which soon involve the dean's daughter (the frequently naked Barbara Crampton) and the college's cadaverous, calculating star professor (David Gale), who literally loses his head over a battle for West's discovery. In this world, that's only a minor setback. Charged with sick gallows humor and a ghoulish gallery of undead beasties, Re-Animator, like Evil Dead II, is one of the most inspired and inventive--and funniest--horror films of the 1980s. Combs, Abbot, and Gale reunite for the almost-as-entertaining sequel Bride of Re-Animator.

Criterion Coll: Burmese Harp: An Imperial Japanese Army regiment surrenders to British forces in Burma at the close World War II and finds harmony through song. A corporal, thought to be dead, disguises himself as a Buddhist monk and stumbles upon spiritual enlightenment. Magnificently shot in hushed black and white, Kon Ichikawa’s The Burmese Harp is an eloquent meditation on beauty coexisting with death and remains one of Japanese cinema’s most overwhelming antiwar statements, both tender and brutal in its grappling with Japan’s wartime legacy.

Criterion Coll: Fires on the Plain: An agonizing portrait of desperate Japanese soldiers stranded in a strange land during World War II and the lengths they go to survive, Kon Ichikawa’s Fires on the Plain is a compelling descent into psychological and physical oblivion. Hard Times: An indictment of materialism and a triumph of the human spirit. This critically acclaimed adaptation fully and faithfully realizes the Charles Dickens classic in all its emotional depth and timeless relevance. Above 19th-century Coketown, soot billows from the mills’ smokestacks like black flags. As the town’s leading citizen, Thomas Gradgrind values hard facts and unflinching reason above all else, and he teaches these values to his children, Louisa and Tom. Gradgrind’s friend, the self-made industrialist Josiah Bounderby, manages his mills with similar heartlessness—much to his profit. But a series of events shakes both men to their very core, causing profound pain to those around them and an eventual awakening. From the company that brought Brideshead Revisited and The Jewel in the Crown to the screen—and from the writer and director of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy—this production features Dickens’ unforgettable characters struggling with remarkably contemporary conflicts: the demands of technology versus the needs of society, and the practical power of materialism versus the ineluctable pull of the human heart. Garetano began what would become a two-year journey to discover what possesses people to become horror filmmakers. Armed with nothing but a camera and a microphone, Chris traveled all over the United States to visit independent filmmakers on and off their sets. In Horror Business, you will witness that quest unfold and meet some truly independent filmmakers including Mark Borchardt (American Movie) and Dave Gebroe (Zombie Honeymoon), along with monster movie personalities like Herschell Gordon Lewis (Blood Feast), Joe Bob Briggs (cult film critic and author), and Sid Haig (Foxy Brown, The Devils Rejects). Shortbus: In his aim to make an honest film about sex, John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) has taken a somewhat documentary approach to Shortbus, a film describing various New Yorkers' sexual pathos. Framed by shots roving a homemade diorama of the city, Shortbus is comprised of vignettes featuring actors who helped craft this story of people's disconnect in sexual endeavors. Jamie (PJ DeBoy) and James (Paul Dawson), a gay couple experiencing a lull in their relationship, visit Sophia (Sook-Yin Lee), a sex therapist whose inability to orgasm results in her clients inviting her to a sex club after which the film is titled. Sophia's husband, Rob (Raphael Barker), is also willing to experiment, so the two independently embark on adventures in self-pleasure. Dominatrix Severin (Lindsay Beamish) plays a crucial role in Sophia and Rob's lives, as her search for real humanity overlaps with their desire for passion. As each character's plot complicates, the viewer sees a similar melancholy bulldozing its way into these seemingly disparate lives. The depression is repeatedly used in comedic scenes, such as when James is asked on a date while still hospitalized for his attempted suicide. Yo La Tengo's score, which includes Animal Collective among others, lends this film a graceful ambience. Unlike porn, Shortbus has a resonance that encourages the viewer to consider one's own sex life as an important aspect of happiness.

Sublime: Family man George Grieves (Tom Cavanagh of TV's Ed and Love Monkey) checks into Mt. Abadon Hospital for a routine procedure. When he awakens from his anesthesia, something is terribly wrong...with George...with the hospital...and especially with the shuttered East Ward, an eerie lair of secrets, sex and surgical terrors. Raw Feed presents the fear-drenched psychological thriller Sublime, directed by Tony Krantz (executive producer of 24) from a screenplay by Emmy Award winner Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers). In the tradition of cinema's classic tales of suspense, Sublime will keep you guessing as its puzzle pieces fall into place, and leave you stunned by its astounding conclusion. Casino Royale (Blu-ray): Casino Royale introduces James Bond before he holds his license to kill. Christoper Lee's COUNT DRACULA review - Xoanon @ 22:21 PST

The release of 'Jess Franco's Count Dracula' on DVD marks one of roughly 51 films based on Bram Stoker's iconic character (and one of nine turns for Christopher Lee to play the part). Franco, director of such camp horror classics like 'Venus in Furs' and 'The Diabolical Dr. Z' brings his vision of Stoker's novel to life not without a few flaws, but the overall effort can bring a smile to any classic horror fan.

The film tells the story of Count Dracula, Lord of Darkness, who attempts to leave his cold castle in Carpatia for the streets of London. When young attorney Jonathan Harker visits Dracula and witnesses the horrors within the castle he escapes and finds himself in the hands of Professor Abraham Van Helsing, noted occult scholar. Van Helsing believes Harker, his young fiancé Mina and another couple are in deadly trouble and vows to kill Dracula. When Mina's friend Lucy is killed by Dracula and turned into a Vampire herself, Van Helsing and his team move to exterminate her. Van Helsing then enlists Harker and Lucy's fiancé to return to Carpatia and kill Dracula before he can retreat to the safety of his castle. Dracula is ambushed outside his castle and is burned to death in his coffin.

Filmed in Spain and Germany, the film certainly does not boast the impressive budget that Francis Ford Coppola's 'Dracula' did in 1992. However the casting of Christopher Lee in the title role adds a dimension to the film that is undeniably cool. Lee however seems out of place for most of the film, as if a group of film students attempted to make a film and managed to convince Tom Cruise to be the main character. With woefully inadequate production values, the film can fall flat in a few places, even considering the 1970 production date.

Production values aside, the casting choices are inspired. Besides Lee as Count Dracula, Herbert Lom (Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus in several 'Pink Panther' films) turns in a great performance as Abraham Van Helsing. Klaus Kinski plays the part of R.M Renfield to a tee, leaving little to no doubt about the psychotic break in the mans mind. This is also one of the last films for Soledad Miranda, who died shortly before the film was released in Europe and the US. Miranda plays the pivotal role of Lucy, one of Dracula's first victims during his foray into London.

The DVd features few additional material, "Beloved Count" is a featurette on Director Jess Franco, an essay on Soledad Miranda, and a still gallery. The most interesting of these however is Christopher Lee himself reading directly from Bram Stoker's novel, if there was ever a voice that can add more gravitas to the prose of Stoker, it is Lee's.

The DVD may not be a hot buy among the younger crowd who have more up-to-date and exciting films to watch, however lovers of classic horror films will enjoy this one. It certainly is something to see if you are a Christopher Lee or Dracula fan!

Bound by intense passion, unwavering honesty and "some weird juju," the seven members and their associates provide a good look at how things can be done against the grain. Bucking tradition, industry naysayers and inflexible business models, front man Dave King and crew illustrate their own formula for success: believing in oneself, refusing to be pigeonholed, and rising from humble beginnings to fulfill a dream, set to the driving folk beat of their vibrant live performances. John & Mary: Screen legends Dustin Hoffman and Mia Farrow light up the screen in this engaging and subtle film directed by Peter Yates. Based on the novel by Mervyn Jones, John And Mary stars Hoffman as a furniture designer and Farrow as an art gallery assistant who meet in an upscale New York singles bar and go home together. The next day, they individually wander around the city, wondering what their night together might have meant – if anything. Even though both carry over-the-limit baggage from unsuccessful earlier affairs, and both are stocked with enough hang-ups to fill volumes of psychological textbooks, there’s still a chance that they’ll wind up together at least one more time – and if nothing else, learn each other's names for the first time.

Lets Go to Prison: John Lyshitski is a car stealing slacker, with a weed problem, and has been in Illinois' Rossmore State Penitentiary so many times, he knows it's entire population of both staff and cons by their fast names. When the heartless judge, who has been behind most of his sentences, goes to the big court house in the sky, John decides to ruin the man's legacy by having the judge's only offspring, Nelson Biederman IV, thrown in the slammer along with him. Here, the world-class selfish jerk learns a certain old lesson the hard way: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. But has John somewhat gone too far in the payback department?

A master of the one-liner, with an absurd rambling style, Zach's sharp, resonating humor makes his show at the famed Purple Onion in San Francisco one of the funniest performances in recent comedy. Off-stage, you will meet Seth Galifianakis, Zach's "twin brother." In an emotional interview with Brian Unger, he sheds some light on his "brother" Zach, revealing how he came to be who he is today.

Loop - Season 1: A recent college graduate adjusts to life as a corporate drone.

Now with the help of a modern-day medicine man (Michael Ansara), Erskine must survive this ancient evil’s rampage of shocking violence, and forever destroy the enraged beast known as THE MANITOU. Stella Stevens, Ann Southern and Burgess Meredith co-star in this infamous horror shocker produced and directed by William Girdler (GRIZZLY, DAY OF THE ANIMALS) from the best-selling novel by Graham Masterton.

Marcus: It's Christmas time. Roger returns home to reconcile with his younger sister, Brooke, who he hasn't seen in almost three years. He arrives with his new fiancee, Gwen, only to find out that Brooke is nowhere to be seen. To make matters worse, he's greeted by his estranged friend, Charles, and his ex-girlfriend, Kate, who have come to meddle in the evening's festivities. Suspicious of their intentions, Roger tries to keep his volatile temper at bay while everyone waits for Brooke to get home. Brooke's alleged boyfriend, Marcus, enters the house unexpectedly and assures the group that Brooke will be there shortly. However, it turns out that she still owns some non-liquid assets -- money-losing companies which were maintained as tax write-offs -- one of which is a detective agency run by David Addison. Maddie meets with him to inform him that the company is to be shut down, but he persuades her to keep it open by convincing her that the detective agency can make money. Quiet Flows the Don: Quiet Flows the Don is a film of truly epic proportions, based on the Nobel prize-winning novel by Mikail Sholokov. At 5 1/2 hours long, this love story chronologically centered on the Russian Revolution is probably the most detailed account of Cossack culture that exists cinematically. Grigory Melekhov (Pyotr Glebov) is a Cossack who falls in love with a fellow soldier's wife, Askinia (Elina Bystritskaya), which causes scandal in their small village along the Don River. Askinia's husband repeatedly beats her, and when she becomes pregnant Grigory takes her away, to escape her brutal husband and Grigory's wife by arranged marriage, Nathalia (Zinaida Kiriyenko). When war hits, Grigory is drafted and leaves Askinia to care for the baby, which results in tragedy. World War I and the Bolshevik Revolution take up the bulk of the plot that details the political discrepancies between the Reds and Whites within Russian borders. Quiet Flows the Don, therefore, is as politically enlightening as it is a fascinating look at the Cossacks' rich heritage. Relentlessly slow at times, the film is indicative of the Russian affinity (in literature) for describing the human condition in excruciating detail, as a tragedy that is only sometimes relieved by love. The levels of tragedy in Quiet Flows the Don delve so deep that it is hard to watch, though one feels it worthwhile to persevere for kernels of truth nonetheless. A full DVD of extras, such as interviews with the actors and shorts about Cossack culture, make the 4-disc set feel especially complete.

Return of Frank James: Fabled Missouri outlaw Frank James, brother of the legendary Jesse James straps on his six-shooters and rides out for revenge in director Fritz Lang's The Return of Frank James, the thrilling 1940 sequel to the Western classic Jesse James. From the green Missouri hills to the rugged Rockies their steps are dogged by Frank James, riding hard on the vengeance trail in the wild and woolly era when there was no law for folks except at the end of a gun.

Revenge of the Nerds Special Edition: When lovable nerds Gilbert and Lewis embark on their freshman year at Adams College, little do they realize the perils that await them. They're beset with taunting by the jocks of Alpha Beta fraternity, which only worsens when the jocks accidentally burn down their house and are forced toss the freshmen out of the freshmen dorm. To make matters more problematic, Lewis develops a crush on pretty Betty Childs, popular sorority sister and quarterback's girlfriend. Joined by the aptly named Booger and the violin-playing Pointdexter, the nerds soon realize they must form their own fraternity in self-defense. Soon the tables are turned as the nerds employ high-tech warfare against the jocks.... but can they really win and make a difference?

Sabrina, The Teenage Witch - The Complete First Season: When Sabrina Spellman is informed by her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, that she is a witch on her 16th birthday, she is hesitant to believe them. Having been sent to live with them in Massachusetts by her Warlock father and mortal mother, Sabrina learns the tricks of magic in order to receive her witch's license. Along the way, she gets into many scrapes while figuring out how certain spells work. She also has to keep the secret from her boyfriend, Harvey, friends Jenny and later Valerie, stuck-up nemesis Libby, and her ever-suspicious vice-principal, Mr. Kraft.

Saturday Night Live: Best of Steve Martin 2: Although he was never a cast member on SNL, Steve Martin currently holds the record for number of times hosting the show. From his early days as a stand-up to becoming a household name, Steve Martin has played many memorable and hilarious characters such as "wild and crazy guy", Jorge Festrunk, Theodoric Of York, Tightwad 007, and paid homage to King Tut through song. He also played himself in sketches. Whether peddling a special kind of beauty cream, attempting to renegotiate his contract in the middle of a live show, or doing his infamous banjo-playing monologue with an arrow through his head, Steve Martin is undoubtedly one of the most successful hosts in SNL history.

Solarbabies: In a future in which most water has disappeared from the Earth, we find a group of children, mostly teenagers, who are living at an orphanage, run by the despotic rulers of the new Earth. The group in question plays a hockey based game on roller skates and is quite good. It has given them a unity that transcends the attempts to bring them to heel by the government. Finding an orb of special power, they find it has unusual effects on them. They escape from the orphanage (on skates) and try to cross the wasteland looking for a place they can live free as the stormtroopers search for them and the orb.

South Park:Complete Ninth Season: All fourteen episodes from South Park’s infamous ninth season are now available for the first time in this exclusive 3-disc collector’s set. This season features Kenny’s epic battle between heaven and hell, uprising of redheads and adventures surrounding a certain closet. For these boys, it’s all part of growing up in South Park!

Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Second Season: If Stargate Atlantis isn't the coolest sci-fi series on television, this five-disc, 20-episode box set from the second season (2005-06) offers ample evidence that it's right up there. The writing is good; the stories are intriguing, and the science part of the equation is credible enough to justify our suspension of disbelief. The characters are for the most part well-defined, and the acting, while perhaps not Emmy-caliber, is just fine. The action is exciting, the effects work impressive, the costumes and sets first-rate. But what Atlantis really has going for it is the presence of some of the baddest bad guys in the cosmos: the Wraith. With their flowing white locks, cat-like eyes, pale, almost translucent skin, and teeth so bad they'd make the British blush, the Wraith rock. They also have a constant need to feed--on humans, of course--and are a serious threat not only to Atlantis but to the entire known universe, including good ol' Earth. And although there are occasional diversions, the producers and writers have wisely kept the focus on these implacable antagonists; in fact, the newest member of the team, one Ronon Dex (played by the dreadlocked and hunky Jason Momoa), is a "runner" who escaped the Wraith's clutches, was a fugitive for years before being found by our heroes, and specializes in dispatching the villains with cold precision. In the course of the season, via single episodes and several multi-parters, the Stargate team, commanded by Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson in the show's least interesting role) and led by insouciant Major John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), with genius-neurotic Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) handling the scientific intricacies and yet another doc, Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion, affecting a Scottish brogue), overseeing medical matters, deals with the enemy on many fronts. Lt. Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks) defects after assuming Wraith-like characteristics. The team experiments with a "retrovirus" designed to turn Wraiths into humans (the results are decidedly mixed). They encounter a human who raised a Wraith female from childhood and insists she's just like us (she's not). They're captured and imprisoned on a Wraith "hive" ship. And in the final episode, the humans and the Wraiths even form an alliance of supposedly mutual convenience (the episode is a cliffhanger that awaits resolution until Season Three, but anyone who thought this "partnership" was a good idea for our side clearly hasn't been paying attention). As was the case with the Season One set, bonus materials are generous, including audio commentary (by actors, directors, and others) on every episode, various featurettes, photos, and more. Now if only there were a few Wraith interviews...

Stargate Infinity: Adventure Begins: In the near future, a veteran of the Stargate program, four cadets, and a mysterious alien are prevented from returning to Earth by a traitor. The heroes must use the Stargate network to find another way back home while keeping one step ahead of their enemies.

Three Musketeers: A classic tale set during the reign of Louis XIII. A young man joins the musketeers to foil an evil cardinal's plot to seize control of France.

Walkout: From the producer of Selena and directed by award-winning actor Edward James Olmos comes the stirring true story of courage and justice. The year is 1968, the height of the national civil-rights movement. Paula Crisostomo (Alexa Vega, Spy Kids) is an idealistic honor student who refuses to "play it safe" in a school system that discriminates against Mexican-Americans. Together with thousands of supporters, she coordinates a multi-school walkout of students to protest academic prejudices. Mentored by her charismatic teacher Sal Castro (Michael Pena, Million Dollar Baby), and with the help of her friend Bobby (Efran Ramirez, Napoleon Dynamite), Paula learns that sometimes the price of progress is high - but it?s ultimately worth paying.

The Brady Bunch - The Complete Final Season: A widower with three sons marries a widow with three daughters. It's a sitcom family for the ages, with plenty of warmth and fuzziness (and constant fighting for the bathroom). The series debuted Sept. 26, 1969, but in many ways was a throwback to the '50s. It originally ran for five seasons on ABC, has remained popular in syndication and inspired two theatrical movies.

The Brady Bunch - The Complete Fourth Season: THE BRADY BUNCH is a half-hour comedy series that follows the misadventures of a family united when single mother Carol (Florence Henderson) finds love and marriage with single father Mike Brady (Robert Reed). The Brady's tackle typical family issues such as sibling rivalry, misunderstandings, and growing up, in a way that brought innocence and charm to the series.

Working with police and pathologists while fighting bureaucratic resistance, coroner Da Vinci relies on high-tech forensic science and old-fashioned shoe leather to illuminate the murky world in which men and women commit murder. With this complete first season—comprising 13 thrilling episodes—you can savor the delicately nuanced drama of Da Vinci’s Inquest from the very beginning.

Don't Torture a Duckling: A Classic Of The Perverse From Director Lucio Fulci. Several young boys are murdered in a remote village rife with sex and superstition, and the townspeople go mad with rage and violence. But when a hard-nosed reporter and promiscuous young woman search for the true killer, they discover a fiend - and motive - even more shocking than the crimes themselves. DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING is a landmark giallo so savage, it could only come from the mind of director Lucio Fulci (THE BEYOND, ZOMBIE, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD). Featuring an international all-star cast that includes Tomas Milian (RUN MAN RUN), Barbara Bouchet (BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA), Irene Papas (Z) and Florinda Bolkan (LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN), this re-discovered classic has been restored from the original vault materials and is now presented completely uncut and uncensored.

Doris Day Show Season 4: Universally adored film and recording star Doris Day triumphed television comedy, rating number one in her timeslot with this light-hearted hit on CBS-TV from 1968-1973. The fourth year of The Doris Day Show introduces a new boss, Cy Bennett (played by John Dehner), for Doris at Today's World magazine, and a new secretary friend, Jackie Parker (portrayed by Jackie Joseph). Emperor's Naked Army Marches on: Man on a mission? Or, man obsessed? Director Kazua Hara’s absorbing documentary follows former auto mechanic Kenzo Okuzaki—a veteran of Japan’s New Guinea campaign during WWII—as he searches out those responsible for the mysterious deaths of several fellow soldiers in his unit. Okuzaki painstakingly tracks down former military officers and accuses them of specific war crimes, including the wrongful execution of Japanese soldiers. Hara’s subtle cinema verite not only captures the zeal of Okuzaki’s lifelong mission but also exposes the atrocities committed by the Japanese military against its on soldiers. This film created such controversy in Japan upon release that no major distributor would handle it.

Filmation's Ghostbusters: The Animated Series Vol. 1: Eddie, Jake and their pet gorilla Tracy track down and eliminate ghosts with the help of a few supernatural sidekicks. This is an animated remake of the live-action series, "The Ghost Busters" (1975), and is in no way related to the more well-known film "Ghostbusters" (1984).

George Carlin:Life Is Worth Losing: George Carlin returns to the stage in Life is Worth Losing, his 13th live comedy stand-up special, performed at the Beacon Theatre in New York City for HBO®. Carlin’s spot-on observations on the deterioration of human behavior include Americans’ obsession with their two favorite addictions - shopping and eating; his creative idea for The All-Suicide Channel, a new reality TV network; and the glorious rebirth of the planet to its original pristine condition - once the fires and floods destroy life as we know it. Life is Worth Losing includes: A Modern Man, Three Little Words, The Suicide Guy, Extreme Human Behavior, The All-Suicide Channel, Dumb Americans, Pyramid of the, Hopeless, Autoerotic Asphyxia, Posthumous Female Transplants, Yeast Infection, Excess: Fires and Floods, Coast-to-Coast Emergency.

A Good Year (Full-Screen Edition): A feel-good movie that highlights the beauty of France as much as it does its stars, A Good Year provides a languid, gorgeous viewing experience. Director Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe--who first worked together on the Academy Award-winning Gladiator--are reunited in this romantic film, which is based on Peter Mayle's book A Year in Provence. Crowe plays Max, a workaholic London bonds trader who doesn't know the meaning of vacation. When his uncle dies, leaving him a picturesque estate in the south of France, Max views it as an opportunity to cash in the vinery and pocket the profits. The film is reminiscent of Diane Lane's Under the Tuscan Sun in the way the scenery plays as much of a role in the film as its characters. The lush village and streaming sunlight portray Provence as an idyllic, magical place. Even Max falls under its spell. While not a particularly likeable character, especially in the early part of the film, Max also isn't a bad guy. When he gets the chance to live life at a less manic pace than which he is used to, he finds that a good year isn't dependant on a financial windfall. Though Scott tries to drum up some suspense in the film (Is the beautiful visitor really Max's illegitimate cousin? Will Max fall in love with the feisty local woman he trades quips with?) nothing that happens comes as much of a surprise. Still, while the film doesn't fully utilize Crowe's range of skills, the actor is charming in his role and A Good Year provides a fine time in the cinemas.
