Trim & Fletcher High End Swords - Xoanon @ 10:51 PST

Trim and Fletcher LOTR Swords

Robert M writes: Angus Trim and Christian Fletcher are getting ready to roll out their next set of Lord of the Rings-inspired swords (of which I'm lucky enough to get the first one sometime next week). Unlike the stainless steel United Cutlery swords, these are high-end performance swords, with the blades made by Angus Trim, and the fittings and accessories hand-made by Christian Fletcher. The new one is inspired by Aragorn's sword from the first two movies, is called the "Borderwatch", and you have a choice of blades and colours. The weight should come in at 3 lbs. for the heaviest bladed version. As I recall, I think I ended up paying $675 for the sword, $350 for the scabbard, and $150 for the belt (all USD - I'll be paying this credit card bill off for a LONG time...).

Gus and Christian have actually been doing this sort of thing for a while now, and the work is simply incredible. The last two LotR-inspired swords that they did sold out very quickly (the Ranger King apparently sold out within four days of the pictures hitting the site), although the pics are still up on the site. [Ranger King] [Redeemer]

Anyway, just thought some of the sword collectors might want to know about it, especially those looking for a Ranger sword that they can actually cut with.

Robert M

PS: The picture with the sword in the scabbard is my sword, which has a 1415 blade (it's lighter and tapers more than the blade in the other picture - that blade is a 1313).

The Mines of Moria! - Celeborn @ 16:53 PST
Sideshow/Weta Collectibles composed a great little DVD segment to premiere at 'The Return of the One Party' last Sunday. Unfortunately, because a small mess-up, we didn't get to play the DVD! But never fear, Sideshow/Weta has now posted the details on their latest environment: The Mines of Moria. Let me emphasis that the detail on this piece is extreme. From the infamous staircase, to the bridge of Khazad-dum...you can literally re-enact the entire sequence from 'The Fellowship of the Ring' in this environment. (Sorry, the 'Incredible Shrinking Ray' is sold separately.) Check it out! [More] (Hi-Res images and an exclusive Quicktime video will be posted later)

Click for Larger VersionClick for Larger Version

Because fans asked for it, and because they pleaded, begged, demanded and insisted, the official TORn t-shirts previously available at last summer's conventions (like Comic-Con and Dragon Con) are now available!

Two styles are available with the third to come very soon. (The 'Don't make me get my Ring!' shirt). All shirts are high-quality, 6.1 ounce 100 percent cotton and will be shipped to your door in about 10-days from when you order for $20, or $25 for XXL shirts. Our "One Evil Wizard" shirt is available in black and steel blue while our popular "Lousy" shirt comes in a new red color and the traditional spruce green.

The back of the lousy shirt reads: "I WAS...chased from my house, stabbed by a wraith, assaulted by a mutant octopus, speared by a troll, stalked by a creepy little man, drawn into a corpse-filled swamp, poised by a giant spider, rendered unconcious...I even lost my Ring, AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT."

On the front of both shirts is the TheOneRing.net logo while the back of the 'One Evil Wizard' shirt says: "Immediate Opening: ONE EVIL WIZARD preferably powerful, for FT management position with well established group. Office in renovated tower provided with full staff. Must have skills in mind control, manipulation and motivatin of large groups. Genestics exp. a plus. Possible real estate acquisition if goal is obtained. Contact via seeing-stone or visit THEONERING.net."

These shirts are available while supplies last.
