First Nissan, now Guiness?

9/16/01, 6:57 pm EST - Xoanon

Ringer Spy Sam B sends along word of a Guiness advert that sounds oddly like a Ford scene we all know and love...

I saw the advert again the other day - have any of you seen a Guiness Advert, its in black and white, and there are several surfers and they are trying to ride this huge wave and on the crest of the wave are loads of white stallions just like in FOTR, it was just a thought that came to mind, perhaps LOTR was an inspiration there?

Of course, you all know, we are kidding :)

Angel and LOTR May Move

9/14/01, 8:34 am EST - Xoanon

From: Engwar

Just wanted to make you aware that because of the terrible events this past Tuesday, the Warner Brothers Network is considering shifting it's Fall premiere dates. If this does occur, the premiere of "Angel" could be affected, which in turn means that the "LOTR World Premiere Preview" would not air on Monday, September 24, but instead air the following Monday, October 1st. Remember that this is all dependent upon if they do decide to shift their premieres.

LotR Trivia Hits Cinemas

9/13/01, 1:22 pm EST - Strider

From TORn Staffer and FAQ supremo Pippin Took:

I went to my local Carmike theater tonight to see a movie, and LOTR was featured not once, but twice, in the slide show that is presented before the previews begin (you know, the one that has various ads, movie facts and trivia, etc.). One "Movie Trivia" screen said (and I'm paraphrasing from memory here), "Andalusians, the breed of horses that are used as models for carousels, appear prominently in THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Another said, "Location scouting for THE LORD OF THE RINGS began a whole year before the start of filming." You know the movie release is getting close when the advertisers take it for granted that the general viewing public know what "Lord of the Rings" is without any need for explanation.

9/10/01, 12:56 pm EST - Xoanon

Ringer Spy I've got Male sends along this news on just WHO is playing Lurtz...and why:

Just checked out some of the cast pages. Sala Baker also played Lurtz. After a break in the shooting of Lurtz, Lawrence Makoare wasn't available (shooting The Broken Earth, I think) so Sala took over the role.

(Interesting, I wonder if Sala played Arwen and Pippin as well..I heard he also plays 3rd Orc on the left... :) -Xo)

Averge Joe sees the ENTIRE film

9/10/01, 12:23 pm EST - Calisuri

Recently, we have been getting a lot of positive reports on the Cannes footage from reviewers and the Hollywood/NY crowd. But what about the average Joe? Well, a new spy, who we'll call 'Average Joe' just sent us a small tidbit of feedback. It seems Average Joe was lucky enough to see both the completed film and hear the final music! NOT the Cannes footage but in fact the entire movie! (before you dismiss the report, we have confirmed he has done both) What does he say?

I know nothing about LOTR and the hype surrounding it but I was completely blown away with the sequences that I saw and with the music. It was fantastic...

Thats a pretty good endorsement from a non-LOTR fan.
