I happened to be browsing through Theforce.net's Episode 2 Main News page looking at the different foreign translations of the new Star Wars title "Attack of the Clones". One of the translations was into Tolkien's Quenya!!! I was quite surprised!!! See! Even in Middle Earth Darth Vader is popular!!!!

I was curious about the FOTR premiere benefit in LA. A New Line insider filled us in a bit more on that and gave us a bonus tidbit : "I think the benefit is for the AFI (American Film Institute) and will be held at the Egyptian Theatre. Did you know that Peter Jackson sent the latest cut of the film to New Line earlier this week? [Last week that would be, now] 2 hours 45 minutes, I believe."

Major changes to Weaving's Matrix sequels

The sequels to the Matrix which will feature Hugo Weaving (Elrond) have had radical changes to their shooting. Instead of doing two seperate shoots, Weaving will now be involved in one large shoot spanning both films. Also, the release of the Matrix 2 has been pushed back to 2003.

Sam Neill confirms he was offered LotR part

In a Question and Answer session on Entertainment Weekly's website, Sam Neill revealed that he was offered a part in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, though he was unable to do so due to other commitments. In the early stages of casting, it was rumoured that Neill would be offered the role of Denethor in the films. [More]

Unfortunately, New Line Cinema has kindly requested that I remove that poster that we had online today. It's to their credit that they have such an open policy with LOTR fansites, and I respect them for it, but I do hope we get to see this pic up on the official site soon! In the meantime, the poster had the wonderful production drawing of the Pillars of Argonath, with the LOTR:FOTR logo and credits. It also was interesting to note that it WAS rated PG-13.
