From Stuff.co.nz: Peter Jackson may have had enough of filming hobbits and elves as he completes the final Lord of the Rings instalment but, like any good Kiwi dad, he's happy to pick up a handycam to film his son playing rugby. [More]

Eagle-eyed TORn staffer Anwyn points out the comment at the end of the story: "Jackson also revealed he had hoped to bring JRR Tolkien's other classic book The Hobbit to the big screen, but the film rights are tied up in a "complex" arrangement involving a rival Hollywood studio." Interesting!

It's the first time it will be shown in Latin America with Spanish subtitles. Wenham's New Film Projects

Ringer Sarah spotted this tidbit about David Wenham in the Sydney Morning Herald. Apparently, David has been cast as the lead in two telemovies for Australia's Seven Network, being produced under the umbrella title of The Murrary Whelan Series. Titled Stiff and The Brush Off, they are based on the novels of Australian writer Shane Maloney. Described as "comedy/dramas with a satirical edge", the films follow a thirty-something divorcee who works as an adviser to a Labor minister.

IMDB is reporting that DVD pirates in India are trying a new tactic to escape detection. It says some Indian video pirates are importing bootleg DVDs from abroad, submitting them to official censors as if they were bona fide originals, then shipping them to legitimate retail outlets. [More]

That 'Hobbit' Trailer....

While folks are searching the net far and wide for any signs of 'The Return of the King' trailer, another trailer has been popping up on their screens. The trailer seems to show scenes from 'The Hobbit' with a few cut scenes from FOTR, the end titles say 'THE HOBBIT" Directed by Peter Jackson, December 2006.

To set the record straight, this is a FAN-MADE trailer with scenes from other movies. Peter is working on KING KONG for his next picture. And, God bless him, let the man get out of Middle-earth for a well deserved rest!

Blockbuster LOTR Deal

Witness writes: I was just at one of the Blockbuster Stores in Sioux City, IA, and they are offering a deal like they did last year with The Fellowship of the Ring. For $29.99, you get 7 rentals over 7 weeks and a copy of TTT when it is released. The manager told me that it was started on Tuesday nationwide, and that if someone has already ordered TTT from Blockbuster, they can upgrade to the deal. The sign out from says it is a deal worth over $50 for only $29.99.
