Barnes & Noble is offering a free course on Lord of the Rings! It starts June 4th and is being taught by a Ph.D. in Folklore/Mythology. This is the first time they have offered this course. LA Times catches up on Cannes.

The LA Times has a few articles about LOTR in Cannes. This one is mostly about the economics of hyping the films. Interestingly it mentions that journalists including Harry Knowles of AICN were flown to the LOTR wrap party last year as part of the hype-building exercise. One of the first things Harry said to me at that party was that he'd got there under his own steam. I hadn't even asked.

Radio NZ had a report from Cannes. NZ Film Commission's Gordon Harcourt caught up with Peter Jackson, who said he was 'shattered' after doing 150 interviews in 3 days. At the glamourous Rings party he was still wearing combat pants (not shorts!) and his usual polo shirt. He said he'd thought that afternoon about wearing a suit, but then realised he hadn't brought one to France!
