Maggot image speculation
5/01/01, 12:31 pm EST - Calisuri
Some fans have written in to suggest that the close-up of a hobbit from yesterday might actually be a continuation of a shot seen in the April edition of SFX magazine
. The shot from SFX shows a hobbit, possibly Farmer Maggot, being confronted by a nazgul on horseback. [image
]. Yesterday's image shows a hobbit, assumed to be Farmer Maggot, staring in astonishment. [image
] Could these two shots be from the same scene? The lighting, the hat and the situation seem to come together nicely.

) talks a little bit more about her role in LOTR in this story from CNN. Among the highlights:
"That is nice (having the films done all at once), but there's a part of me that's kind of anxious to get into another role, because 'Lord of the Rings' was so spread out for me. I didn't get that sense of working every day consistently for a period of time. And at the same time, I'm not the main character in those movies." [More]

Open Letter to Jeffrey Wells
4/26/01, 10:35 am EST - Quickbeam
Greetings -- Quickbeam here.
Were you insulted by the unfair stereotypes slung at us Tolkien fans yesterday in a certain "Hollywood Confidential" column? I know I was -- and now it's payback time! Read my Open Letter to Jeffrey Wells where I let him have it with both barrels.
Much too Hasty,
OOPS! MediaWatch: Ottawa Citizen
4/26/01, 9:52 am EST - Calisuri
Once again, the print media seems to be having problems getting things right as they pertain to Tolkien and Lord of the Rings.
Check out this gem from an Ottawa Citizen
article on Liv Tyler.:
"The character of Arwen in The Lord of the Rings will be a far different proposition -- a genuinely romantic human being who falls in love with Ergorn. Tyler stresses that in the original Tolkien novel, the Elvin princess is only there for a couple of chapters -- but that at the end of the book there is a huge appendix dealing with her love for Ergorn." Reel.com: Gamble of the Rings
4/25/01, 4:47 pm EST - Calisuri
Many fans have written to us today concerning the "Gamble of the Rings
" article at Reel.com's 'Hollywood Confidential.' Mr. Wells, the author, is obviously not a Tolkien fan and has a rather negative slant on the film trilogy's financial prospects. He reports on the buzz within the industry and the fact that AOL-Time Warner (which owns New Line) is concerned about the box office potential. Mr. Wells is also kind enough to call us Tolkien fans 'the geek types' and 'pre-teens.' Thank you Mr. Wells. Over 100 million geeks worldwide send their regards. [More
