Ringer Spy Mr Tadpole sends in word on what may be the final scenes shot by Peter Jackson et all. Reading this may be a spoiler for some, so highlight only if you want to know! A little birdie told me they're shooting the big coronation scenes next week - with the brightest, most splendid costumes they've ever made...

The Stars appear at Christmas Parade

12/10/00, 4:55 am EST - Tehanu

Only 12 days of filming left, and it's made them go all silly. They're actually allowing the stars to appear at public events all over the place!

Here's the news snippet thanks to Rachel, who caught the item on NZ's Three News:

"... I didn't catch much but from what I gathered it was about the wrap up. They were filming a Christmas parade which some of the actors from the Lord of the Rings had turned up to... they interviewed a few of them including Sir Ian Mckellen, John Noble and Sean Astin. It also showed a few shots of some of the other actors, some screens from the trailer and some pictures of the Minas Tirith and Edoras sets. I don't remember much of what was said but Sean Astin was asked about the Wrap Party. He wouldn't say much about it. He was cheeky to the reporter - it was quite amusing."

There's a mention of it on the TV3 site here - nothing really new, but they've added up the cost of the movies so far and arrived at NZ$690,000,000 which is a big number when you write it out that way! There's a picture too, which is sort of.....hmmmmmm.

D&D film: Seattle Weekly gives an opinion

12/08/00, 10:27 pm EST - Tehanu

Sensibly, they send a reviewer who cares about SciFi and fantasy. LOTR is mentioned of course. Don't read this expecting a blow-by-blow account of the D&D movie. Instead, in a few paragraphs she puts her finger on something that's concerned me for a long time. As SF and fantasy fans, are we getting what we deserve? And thanks to Brandon for the tipoff. More

A Call To Arms!!! (or the phones!)

12/08/00, 8:51 pm EST - Calisuri

It's Friday night in the States, and millions of people are going to the see the new movies at their local theater. We have confirmed that the Lord of the Rings trailer will definitely be before New Line's January release of 13 Days, but aren't you a little interested to see if they try to sneak it in with Dungeon & Dragons? I am! So I called my local theater and confirmed that, at least here, the LOTR was not in front of DnD. What about you? Whats it hurt to call? If you find out anything juicy, drop me a line! (calisuri@theonering.net)

TIP - The main number, at most theaters, is simply a recorded message with movie name and showtimes. Wait till the very end of that message for their 'real' number! :)
