In Movie Market poster shop in the UK the number one selling poster at the moment is the Fellowship of the Ring poster (the Pillars of Argonath). Trailing at number two is Harry Potter, at number three ANOTHER Lord of the Rings poster (the one were the Fellowship are walking up a mountain), and at number four ANOTHER Lord of the Rings poster, this time it's a collage of six different characters from the movie (Arwen, Frodo, an Orc, Saruman, Galadriel, and a Dark Rider).

I'm from South Africa and I just wanted to let you guys know that the TV guide for M-net subscribers (a variation of the one with the pic of Gandalf in) has a similar promo for LOTR but this one has a new pic of Frodo in Lothlorien and Galadriel in the background.

I wanted to inform you that the openinig date of the LOTR film in Israel is scheduled to the 20th of december so I think we will be one of the first countries to see it after the opening in the US on the 19th. I am pretty sure this is an official date as I heard it in a TV program.

The people of the site www.Starring.nl announced that on the 17th and 18th of November that there will be a Lord of the Rings weekend on Yorin FM, a local radio. They will give away prices, tickets to the movie and the most exciting thing of all: A luxury ten-day trip to New Zealand to make a travel-documentary of the country. The people at this radio doesn't give much information yet, but we'll see within a month, right?

The biggest Finnish newspaper, Helsingin Sanomat, has a LOTR ad in the Saturday (Oct 27) issue on movie pages. The ad picture shows silhouettes of the Fellowship walking on a ridge. Over the picture there's text (in Finnish):

"53 days to Middle Earth. The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. In theaters December 19."

I just thought I'd let you know there was brief feature on the Fellowship of the Ring on Channel 4's 'The Big Breakfast' show this morning. They showed a small section of the latest trailer and some of the original trailer.

There were also clips of Sean Bean interviewed about his role as Boromir and how he thinks the film will be received. He said it was amazing to work on an epic such as this and talked briefly about Boromir's complex character and his struggle with the ring.

Just wanted to pass on the great news that Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Sean Astin (Sam) will be helping to celebrate Lord of the Rings Day at 1:00 p.m. on November 8th! McKellen will be appearing at the New York City location (Barnes & Noble, 33 East 17th Street) and Astin will be at the Los Angeles location (Brentano's, 8500 Beverly Boulevard) for the exclusive video event!

I saw on TV that tonight (Wednesday, 24 of october) at 6:30 on TQS (French canadian channel) there would be something on LOTR at Flash (a french canadian tv show...).

Hi, just to give you two links of reviews of the cannes footage shown in Montreal (of which I missed the chance to attend!! -Xo) from La Presse & TVA (RealPlayer Needed). Please note, both sites are in french only.

A friend of mine e-mailed the Swedish movie theatre association asking about the booking of tickets to the premiere and got the following answer; The tickets will probably be released around the end of November, these tickets are tickets for the release date December 19th and for the following couple of weeks. This means that you can't order the tickets, you have to pick them up directly at the movie theatre. The reason for this is that the movie still isn't ready and approved by the Swedish censorship. And according to Swedish law you can't buy tickets before that. When all details concerning the release of tickets are clear, this will be advertised in all major Swedish newspapers.

All Aussie Cinemas showing the new trailer will be presenting it in FULL, PROPER SCOPE as per the cinema wide screen standard that the film will be presented in. It is one thing to see the trailer on the big screen! It is another to see it in it's intended screen format. The trailer starts playing this Thursday with "Don't Say a Word" in ALL cinemas.

A friend of mine went to see 'Moulin Rouge' at a cinema here in Cape Town, South Africa last Saturday. We already new that the new (and old) Teaser Posters were up at all the cinemas here and that the films are definitely being released here on December 19th as well, but we didn't really know when the other forms of marketing were going to begin (besides articles in newspapers, which I'll get to later). The American Library Association's Library Journal has a bibliography for us in the October issue. It lists books by and books about JRR Tolkien plus a great writeup about the enthusiasm already seen for the upcoming movies and a suggestion to stock up on the books as the first movie's release date gets closer. And, a big round of applause as TheOneRing.net is touted as "the best web page hands down" for movie information by Library Journal's Senior Editor Michael Rogers.

Presale begins Monday, November 5th. Sunday night "Nova Kinosenter" will open the doors for the fans, that way they get them in from the cold outside. There will be sale of food, and there may also be some entertainment through the night. Me and some friends are planning to start the line Friday night. In Trondheim, LotR: FotR will have premier 1 minute over midnight, probably because of the world-premier... Wow, this is really going to be big, Trondheim Cinema says this might be the biggest opening of a film ever, and are saying that we shouldn't be surprised if we see Orcs, Ringwraiths and Wizards around soon...

"The Fellowship of the Ring" (Dec. 19): Not to be outdone by all things "Harry Potter," Peter Jackson ("Heavenly Creatures") unleashes the first loop in his already-filmed "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. What else is the J.K. Rowling series if not a less gothic and byzantine dilution of J.R.R. Tolkien's collection? This first installment focuses on Frodo (Elijah Wood), the Hobbit, who embarks on a quest to destroy the One Ring before the evil Gandalf (Ian McKellen) can get his hands on it.

Just a short mention of LOTR:FOTR in Teen People Magazine. Also to add, Orlando Bloom (Legolas) will be mentioned in the February issue as 'New Talent' due to come out in early 2002. I will send along the pics of him in the article before the issue comes out.

Super Ringer Spy PH couldn't help but notice these two articles in Saturday's Wellington Weekend Post. One describes the fervor over the Toy Biz figures and the other goes into detail about the special screening of FOTR for Embassy Theatre Trust members, being held immediately after the official New Zealand premiere. The tentative LOTR vip guest list for the premiere is listed as well!

Warner Brasil is wanting to postpone the LOTR premiere here to, believe, january 4 2002! This is of course an outrage, and I would like to gather atention to this, since they were promising since the announce of the film that it would premiere here 21 december.
