Final LOTR title goes gold, to ship in early April

Aspyr today announced that The Lord of the Rings; The Return of the King has gone "gold", finishing development on the third-person action/adventure title; Due early next month, it "puts the fate of Middle-earth in the hands of the gamer... players must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the Crack of Doom, freeing Middle-earth from the clutches of the Dark Lord Sauron." Decipher & WETA Play Cards

Decipher announced today that Weta Workshop, the Academy Award-winning special effects studio responsible for creating many props and special effects used in New Line Cinema's The Lord of the Rings films, will create unique photographic images that will be featured on cards in The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game. Under the terms of their agreement, Weta Workshop will cast, costume and create character images that did not appear in the films for Decipher’s use in The Lord of the Rings TCG. [More]

EA was gracious enough to unveil the trailer for their new RTS game, the Battle for Middle-Earth, at our 2004 Oscar party, The Return of the One Party! Introduced by Mark Skaggs, executive producer on the project and EA vice president, the trailer was met with much cheering and applause, and guests were able to take a copy of it home in their goody baggins.
